The Sri Lankan Children's Foundation (SLCF) is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and communities across Sri Lanka. Our projects span various regions, focusing on education, technology access, and community development.
Computer Centres One of our primary initiatives is establishing computer centres in underprivileged areas. These centres provide access to digital resources, online education, and essential computer skills training. As of 2022, we have established 10 computer centres across Sri Lanka, including: - Lindula School, Nuwara Eliya District - Mannar St Joseph's School - Pedro Estate, Nuwara Eliya - Dumbara Adarsha Primary School, Kandy District - Mahinda Adarsha Primary School, Kandy District - St. Mary's College, Trincomalee - China Bay Computer Centre, Trincomalee District
These centres serve thousands of primary and secondary students annually, bridging the digital divide between urban and rural areas.
Educational Support We provide various forms of educational support, including: - Funding for school infrastructure and equipment - Provision of educational materials and resources - Support for English language and computer skills training - Assistance to students for scholarship exams and advanced level studies
Notable projects include: - Carmel Academy in Atchuvely (near Jaffna): Computer centre and language training facility - Apostolic Carmel Academy, Atchuvely: Support for displaced children, including digital resources and basic skills training - University student support: Providing laptops to deserving scholars
Community Development Our community development projects aim to improve living conditions and economic opportunities: - Tissamaharama Community Farm: Irrigation system and agricultural support for 30 farming families - Support for families affected by economic crises, including provision of essential goods - Assistance to children's homes and orphanages, such as Christ the King Girl's Home in Murunkan and Lawris Children Hostel
Geographical Spread Our beneficiaries are located across various districts in Sri Lanka, including: - Northern Province: Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya - Eastern Province: Trincomalee, Batticaloa - Central Province: Kandy, Nuwara Eliya - Southern Province: Hambantota (Tissamaharama) - Other regions: Anuradhapura, Matale, Colombo
Impact Through our various initiatives, we have: - Provided digital access and education to over 5,000 students annually - Supported hundreds of families through economic hardships - Improved agricultural yields and incomes for farming communities - Enhanced educational infrastructure in multiple schools across the country We continue to expand our reach and impact, focusing on sustainable development and empowering communities through education and technology.
