2021 Successes
This was SLCF’s first project for the year. SLCF successfully renovated the children’s primary school playground and washroom infrastructure. Also helped children providing educational materials to overcome the COVID lockdowns. The total project spent was around Rs 200,000.
SLCF donated funds to St. Anthony’s school located in China bay to the primary school children to purchase a Children’s music band to play at their school sports meet and to play at any school functions. This is to mainly to develop children’s interest on music, sports and increase involvement in extracurricular activities to develop their social skills.
This project was a classic example to prove the fact ‘you reap your own harvest’. With the installation of the water irrigation system the farmers where able to produce the vegetables, sell and make sales and use the profits for their families to purchase day to day goods.
SLCF successfully installed its 5 th Laptop centre in Nuwaraeliya Lindula town to bridge digital disparity between developed and developing cities in Sri Lanka. Primary objective is to help the school by providing computers to aid their learning and minimise digital gaps in education, and business. This centre will benefit about 2,000 primary and secondary grades and many more new grades to come.
A projector was also provided to the school to cover many classes with students at once, so that many students will benefit at once.
Other than for many projects such as infrastructure build, laptop centres and agricultural projects throughout the years SLCF supported our beneficiaries with many other ad hoc educational, interpersonal skills, admin and societal projects for both children, schools and teachers.
